Hello, I use my olive oil on everything raw, but on cooked food, only AFTER being cooked so as to preserve as much as possible the goodness and taste of the oil. Also, the rare occasions I "fry" (actually quick few seconds saute) I first try to do it with...plain water, and only if I don't like the result with certain foods, do I add a drop or two of oil. :o)

But as to the quality of the olive oil...alas after reading your article on DOP I see La Squisita oil which I've been using does not certify (and just bought a dozen one-liter bottles) :-(

Do you happen to know where in NYC I could find the DOP Extra Virgin, Hard Pressed Olive Oil?

Anyway, thanks so much for all your excellent articles! Adela

P.S. I wish to subscribe here but what does Live Bookmark or Bookmark Tool mean? Thanks.

Amazing informartion about olive oil benefits and very useful suggestions on this website! Can you please let us know where we can buy the good cold pressed olive oil you are recommending in your posts? From what I can read it sounds like it will be a completely different olive oil from what you buy in the supermarket. I live in Manchester, UK and only recently I have got closer to the benefits of olive oil.
Thanks a lot for keeping us informed about all around this incredible liquid!

Hi Anand,
thanks for writing! In one of my articles about olive oil benefits I have listed the 7 main benefits olive oil can bring, based on scientific research I could trust. As you can see there and in other studies such as the one here, olive oil does reduce blood pressure.
About your second question, let's say that the maximum health benefits of olive oil can be achieved by using it to dress food, rather than cooking food. However, this is true for all the oils and olive oil will actually be less harmful than most of the other oils. Besides that, think about the tasting of the good olive oil (possibly fresh and cold pressed) and you will find out why olive oil is the only oil Italians and most of the Mediterranean people use!
